♦ Salisbury Police sources report that the playground of Salisbury’s dwindling wealth, “The Country Club of Salisbury” on 747 Club House Drive, was victimized Thursday morning by a burglar(s) smashing a glass window pane to gain entrance through a door to the lounge area. The crime was reported a 6:25 a.m. to 911 dispatch. The burglar(s) stole a money box (valued at $25) and $50 in cash before taking off.
Lately crime appears to be on the rise in the once venerable Country Club area where major burglaries and a rash of vehicle breaking and entries are taking place. As vacant homes multiply in the area from people pulling out of Salisbury for better prospects elsewhere, homes are being broken into and becoming transient lodging for the city’s vagrant population.
The burglary case at the Country Club remains under investigation.
