♦ Salisbury Police sources report that John Clemons, 58, of Swicegood Road in Linwood, N.C. encountered the misfortune of becoming a victim of larceny–all other at the Salisbury Amtrak Depot on 220 Depot Street. Mr. Clemons had his bookbag snatched by one of the many street people frequenting the area between the Depot and the Gateway Park AKA “Needle Park”. Visitors from out-of town, unaware of this high-crime area, sometimes in an unguarded moment get their pocketbooks and bags stolen.

The stolen bookbag (valued at $25) contained clothing (valued at $50), personal accessories (valued at $200) as well as a goldmine in pills (186 pills some of which are narcotic) likely fetching a good price on the street. No doubt some folks achieved a decent “nod” on the benches around in Salisbury’s notorious “Needle Park”.
