♦ Salisbury Police sources report that Jonathan Allen Shook, 18, living on 515 Yost Street in Salisbury, was arrested after a traffic stop near the intersection of Freeland Drive and S. Arlington Street. The stop happened within minutes of an employee at the Circle K convenience store alerting 911 dispatch that an armed robbery was in progress at the Circle K at 1015 E. Innes Street.

The officer placed Shook under arrest for robbery with a firearm as he was alleged to be positively identified as the suspect. After placing Shook in handcuffs, the officer searched the suspects person for weapons before placing him the rear of a patrol car. Shook was transported to the Salisbury Police Department HQ where he was advised of his Miranda rights. Shook signed a rights form, agreeing to speak with the officer without a lawyer present. The suspect requested the officer dictate a written statement which Shook signed. The suspect was photographed, finger printed, and provided a buccal sample of his DNA.
At the scene of the armed robbery no injuries were reported and no accounting yet is available of what, if anything, was stolen.
Shook’s processing continued at the magistrate’s office where the police officer swore to the incident and the Magistrate found probable cause for the arrest.
Shook was charged with robbery with firearms or other dangerous weapons. Under a secured $30,000 bond, he was placed in the Rowan County Detention Center.
