♦ Officers from Rowan Animal Services and Rowan County Sheriff’s Office deputies swooped down on a rural home Saturday afternoon at 655 Geneva Drive in Rockwell, N.C. on the report of an alleged cockfighting operation. About 2 dozen persons were on the property when the Sheriff’s deputies arrived and remained for several hours.
At 5:25 p.m. Sheriff’s deputies left the property after arresting four men and placing them in handcuffs: Victor Manuel Garcia, 37, who lived on the property, Manuel Villa Ocampo, 36, Marcial Clemente Rodriguez, 35, and Rogelio Leonardo Calderas, 44.
All four men were charged with cockfighting (felony). After being placed in the Rowan County Detention Center, all four men have bonded out.
