Kenny Hardin, Salisbury City Councilman and Mayoral Candidate in 2017 (Reprinted with Permission)
♦ Since the Salisbury Post article a couple of months ago where I made a decision not to seek reelection to City Council, I have been flooded with passionate and emotional pleas and requests from people both Black and White, young and old, poor and the financially comfortable to reconsider and run again.
I’ve been listening to the hordes of voice mails, reading the many text and inbox messages and engaging the countless numbers of people who stop me everyday when I’m out asking me to pease reconsider.
With that, I’m not simply seeking a seat on the Council, I am running for the Mayor’s office.
In light of the divisive actions of City Leaders over the past two weeks, I am committed to being a Mayor that will truly represent all people and move this City forward in a progressive direction.
I will continue to be the strong servant leader I’ve shown you this far. I appreciate all the love and kind sentiments, but I need your strong support.
