♦ Salisbury Police sources report that Jerry Lorenzo Hawthorne, 35, a felon living on 205 Ferndale Drive, was arrested Wednesday afternoon during an undercover operation conducted in Sheetz’s parking lot at 1520 S. Jake Alexander Blvd. Hawthorne, over a period of time, had allegedly participated in a number of undercover sales.
Hawthorne, long associated with Guilford crime, moved into to Salisbury’s wide-open criminal vortex. At 1:46 p.m. Hawthorne was handcuffed after he allegedly asked a Salisbury undercover officer about purchasing a firearm. Abruptly officers converged on the startled Hawthorne who allegedly was selling heroin, morphine, meth, promethazine with codeine, and ecstasy.

Hawthorne’s was charged with weapons possession by a felon of firearms etc. prohibited (felony), 4 counts of sell/deliver control substance schedule I (felony), 4 counts of possession with intent to manufacture/sell/deliver control substance schedule I (felony), 4 counts of sell/deliver control substance schedule II (felony), 2 counts of possession with intent to manufacture/sell/deliver controlled substance schedule II (felony), and possession of control substance schedule V (misdemeanor).
Under a secured $200,000 bond, Hawthorne is being held in the Rowan County Detention Center. His first court appearance will be on Friday July 21st.
