♦ Convenience stores continue to be the prize plums for many of Salisbury’s transient criminals dwelling on the streets of the city in vacant buildings, houses, or in tarp encampments.
According to Salisbury Police sources the Rushco Convenience Store #4 a 1901 W. Innes Street was the victim of a “robbery-strong arm no weapon” on Tuesday when a man, with his head and face obscured by a hoodie entered and threatened a clerk. No weapon was visible. No injuries were reported. A clerk reported the crime to 911 dispatch and the police arrived a short time later.
An undisclosed amount of cash and product was taken. Likely a security camera video will soon become available.
The crime remains under further investigation. No suspects have been named at this time.

♦ Salisbury Police sources report that Tyreese Bradley, 37, a refrigerated tractor-trailer driver for “Kight Refrigerated” from Forest City, Arkansas (the hometown of the late heavyweight boxing champion Sonny Liston), got a whiff of Salisbury hospitality. Bradley was the victim of an “assault-other dangerous weapon” on Tuesday at the intersection of Jake Alexander Boulevard S. and Martin Luther king, Jr. Avenue S. Bradley, headed for a delivery at the Food Lion warehouse at 220 Julian Road, pulled into the left lane to make a turn when abruptly a green pickup truck cut him off and pulled in front of him. Slamming his brakes, Bradley’s semi screeched to a halt and blew its rack of horns.
At the next intersection Bradley pulled his rig beside the green pickup. Bradley cussed the pickup’s driver, asking him why he cut him off. Perhaps not the best time for reasoning to prevail. The pickup driver called him a Southern racial slur. Bradley in turn called the driver a “cracker”. The heated discussion graduated into the pickup driver threatening Bradley with “mace”, a chemical pepper spray that temporarily burns the eyes, nasal passages, and often the upper lungs. Raging now, the pickup driver sprayed into Bradley’s cab and fled the scene. Disabled for a brief period by the spray, Bradley recovered.
Bradley described his assailant as a white male, forties, with bad teeth, and the driver of a green pickup truck.
While Salisbury, N.C. in not much to talk about these days, well neither is Forest City, Arkansas. So there.
