♦On Tuesday morning at 9 am the Rowan County Commissioners meet with the Rowan-Salisbury School Board at the Rowan County Administration Building, 130 W. Innes St. in Salisbury, NC.  The topic of conversation between the two boards will be the ongoing budget mediation.  Contacted at the end of last week Commission Chairman Jim Sides told the Rowan Free Press in regards to Tuesday’s special meeting: “This meeting is a good faith effort on the part of the Rowan County Board of Commissioners to resolve the issue of the central office for the Rowan-Salisbury School System. We also have a sincere desire to begin a two-way discussion related to other identified capital needs for the school system. It is our hope that this joint meeting between the Board of Education and the Board of Commissioners will be a start to those discussions in the future.”

Later at 6 pm the Rowan County Commissioner will again convene to discuss the constructions of a 300 foot “911″ radio tower to be built on county property 3615 W. 152.  The second meeting of the day will be conducted at the commission chambers at the Rowan County Administration Building.  The “911″ communications tower is part of a county initiative to improve emergency communications.  The 800 megahertz radio tower is slated for the site of a Rowan County EMS Station in the China Grove, N.C.

Also on the 6 p.m. agenda is a discussion of the county’s agreement to sell property to Gildan Yarns for $100 so they can expand the Rowan County manufacturing facility.  The expansion was part of the commissioner approved 2013 incentive package.
