According to Salisbury Police sources Erickson Douglas Courtney, 34, the 6’5″ tall 225 pound manager of the Rite Aid Pharmacy on 640 W. Jake Alexander Boulevard, allegedly punched his 9-year-old stepson in the nose, drawing blood at their home in the Rolling Hills Townhomes on 315 Ashbrook Road. When the stepson showed up at school with a bloody nose, school authorities reported the assault to 911 dispatch at 3:34 p.m. and police arrived soon after. During the interview the stepson allegedly provided conflicting stories, but still claimed his stepfather hit him.
Salisbury Police arrested Mr. Courtney after 3 P.M. at his at his home on 315 Ashbrook Road and took him to Police HQ. At the magistrate’s office Courtney was given a “written promise to appear”. Courtney was charged with assault on a child/minor (misdemeanor) and child abuse a general misdemeanor).
