Mediator Willis Whichard is yet to declare an impasse Between County Commissioners and Rowan-Salisbury Schools according to county and school sources. Mediator Whichard is consulting with lawyers from both boards. According to sources within the school system, two members of the school board are possibly reconsidering their votes for an impasse and may accept the county commissioners offer about the Central Office and capital improvements. The reality of suing the county taxpayers stands as a large campaign issue.
Whichard will offer an assessment after receiving communications updates from the two boards attorneys. There is still hope that issues between the two boards will end without a lawsuit.
