♦ Today’s Rowan County Commission meeting was held at at the J. Newton Cohen, Sr. Room in the Rowan County Administration Building on 130 West Innes Street, Salisbury, NC.
Of special interest today at the county commissioner meeting was:
• A proposal by Vice-Chairman Pierce to offer space indoors and outdoors for the Farmer’s Market at the West End Plaza
• Gildan incentives agreements approved.
• Discussion of county animal shelter.
• Approves funding for additional parking (37 new parking spots for Rufty-Holmes Senior Center)
• Budget Work Session followed the regular meeting where a discussion took place about a potential property tax increase in the coming fiscal year starting on July 1st. The amount of the property tax raise might include raises for county employees and money from a possible school system Litigation. This session is a must watch.
• Quasi-judicial Hearing for CUP 01-14. A Discussion of a property to be used as a 5 megawatt solar panel farm.
