Letter-to-the Editor: Salisbury Does Nothing to Lift Itself Out of Soaring Poverty Except Deny It

♦ Excuse me, but I’ve read your absolutely spot on assessment of Salisbury’s 28% poverty and how the city could climb out of it before it collapses.  Your ideas are workable except in one area.  The city of Salisbury government, a front for the Salisbury’s immobile power structure, has created the city’s deathbed scene.  I see no evidence of them recognizing their easy to notice plight.  The people, who run the city are failing to recognize Salisbury’s nosedive, put everything they have into denying it.  They talk up their ridiculous award for “presenting” their budget.  Any city in that association gets awards too just for following the right steps.  Salisbury’s won this award 22 times in a row even when they were getting warnings from the LGC about the Fibrant fiasco in 2012.

To date Salisbury’s inept response to soaring 28% poverty is:

• To propose tearing down West End housing project which still looks good and waste taxpayer dollars on replacing them with expensive ginger bread homes.  Salisbury’s needs to change its name to entitlement city.

• I’m still trying to wrap my head around the city’s “traffic calming” adventure proposed for East Innes.  Why would they even consider making the city’s awful traffic congestion problem even worse on East Innes and drive people away?

• Who will forget the crazy push for non economic factor at 329 S. Main to attract investment to the Bat-Tel?  This is Salisbury’s idea for getting out of poverty

• The city of Salisbury is rallying around the fighter for “food injustice” Jon Barber.  I hope my rebuking him at the county commissioners a few months ago didn’t to lead to his current “bad karma” where his brainiac attorney threw him under the bus. The attorney begged the commissioners for an “independent entity” to hear Jon’s case.  Well Baby Huey got his wish for the Kopy King. Recently Sam Gregory the SBI investigator was taken off the case and replaced by a new SBI investigator. Hopefully Baby Huey will have better luck than when he, as an assistant D.A., gave the go ahead to release several jailbirds, who slaughtered the Tutterows the night of their release.
