Rowan County Sheriff’s Office
♦ The Citizen Training Academy (CTA) is a community oriented Law Enforcement program designed to give interested citizens of Rowan County an inside look at their Sheriff’s Office. The purpose of the CTA is to deliver high quality interactive training that helps promote education for the citizens and for the Sheriff and staff. The CTA consists of 8 classroom sessions, 3 practical hands-on sessions, a field trip, some equipment demonstrations and a graduation/reception. Participants learn about crime prevention, home safety, gangs, drugs, incident response and citizen-police communication. They will also tour the Rowan County Justice Center, detention centers and courthouse. Participants must be at least 18 years old, live in Rowan County and pass a criminal history check. Applicants will be received on a first-come, first-served basis and others will be placed on a waiting list for future sessions. The sessions do not qualify the applicants basic law enforcement certification.
CTA program runs 6-9 p.m. Wednesdays, March 19-May 7, at the agency’s Landis Training Center, 102 N. Central Ave.
