♦ N.C. Senate candidate Greg Brannon’s campaign took a major hit Tuesday in Raleigh after his conviction for making misleading or false statements to investors. It is a fact of life that a recent major conviction, such as the one just rendered in Raleigh, is a death knell for any political campaign. It would leave Mr. Brannon, no matter if a future appeal proves he’s innocent, an inviting target for his political adversaries. At this time no white flags have appeared from the Brannon camp. He filed his campaign paperwork Wednesday.
