♦ What follows is a zany Youtube of a candidate promoting the outermost reaches of bipartisanship under the guise of “we all need to get along”. No, this isn’t a comedy send-up. Obviously, in many contexts, the ability to get along is worthwhile, yet in some political arenas its completely unsuitable. Do we make trade-offs and erode certain highly valued objectives? At times stalemates are far better than the erosion or the outright loss of highly valued goals. Obviously, most of us wouldn’t want give any ground on free speech, the risk of getting crummy and expensive healthcare, or gun rights. This candidate, “Leigh Brown”, who is running against popular Rep. Larry Pittman (R-Cabarrus), proposes taking Old Hickory off the $20 bill. Some, in the spirit of “absolute bipartisanship” might offer a trade-off: put “Leigh Brown” on a 3 dollar bill.
A few of us may recall Leigh Brown’s aborted run for governor where she called herself a DEMOPUBLICANREPPUBLICRAT.
