♦ According to Salisbury Police Department sources Shaar Gentle Worth, 26, of the 900 block of North Jackson in Salisbury, N.C. was apprehended fleeing a vacant home early Sunday morning and charged with breaking and entering, misdemeanor assault on a government official, misdemeanor injury to real property, and felony malicious conduct by a prisoner.
After receiving a call from neighbors, just after midnight, that someone had broken into a house near North Church and Lafayette, police converged on the home. The two officers positioned themselves at the front and rear doors where they heard someone inside the house. Mr. Worth shortly fled the house, running out the backdoor in the direction of West Henderson. Mr. Worth was commanded to halt or risk being tasered. Mr. Worth took his chances and attempted to flee, becoming combative and resisted being handcuffed. Kicking and spitting at the officers, Mr. Worth kicked out the patrol car’s back window, forcing the officers to shackle his ankles. Mr. Worth remains in custody at the Rowan County Detention Center and is under a $20,000 secured bond.
