♦ One of the Republican frontrunners in the county commission race, Joe Coladarci visited China Grove, NC on its 125th anniversary during his grand tour of Rowan County this weekend and still had time to launch his website:  http://joe4rowan.com/

Joe Coladarci, 62, a notable Rowan businessman, Rowan county planning board member, and Republican activist from High Rock Lake in Rowan County, filed with the Board of Elections and stepped up his full court press campaign this weekend.

Joe, a colorful and outspoken 6’10 former basketball center for Manhattan College, quickly made himself known upon his arrival here in North Carolina in 2010 in Republican and conservative circles. Never known to mince words, “Big Joe” as he is known by his many friends throughout Rowan County told the Rowan Free Press he has gradually adopted a more socially graceful Southern manner. Joe is formidably gregarious and is on a first name basis with thousands of folks throughout the county and the region.

Joe is a strong supporter of the Salisbury Mall purchase, acknowledging like many the West End Plaza will not raise county taxes and will provide inexpensive required space over the next 25 years.

Joe told the Rowan Free Press: “I chose to relocate to Rowan in 2010. I love this place. When I arrived I joined the local Republican Party and the Rowan Tea Party. I’ve been very active in civics most of my adult life. I felt this would give me a way find out more about my new community. After 3 and 1/2 years and many nights at meetings, I’ve met some very good people and believe we share the same values and beliefs. It’s time to stand and be counted. I hope folks will allow me to stand for them on the Rowan County Commission.

I believe I can bring over 40 years of business experience to the Commissioner’s office. Though I am only one vote I have worked at solving problems throughout my working career and will use those skills for the people of Rowan County.”
