Salisbury’s Grim Street Shootout Victims named by Police

♦ Salisbury Police sources named the 3 men suffering from gunshots wounds during the West End gun battle at Grim Street near Alexander Lane: James Jermain Little, 23, Salisbury found slumped on the porch. Also named were Henry Lee Wilder Jr., 27, East Spencer, transported to Novant Health Rowan Medical Center as was Antoine Nicholas Darnelle Cherry, 30, Salisbury, who drove himself. As yet it is not known the extent of the wounded’s injuries.

According to Salisbury Police sources 3 persons were shot on 400 block of Grim Street sometime after 12:30 a.m. Saturday. Reports say a group of people were standing outside a house when someone drove up in a car and started shooting. Return fire quickly ensued. One of the wounded fled the scene before slumping on the back porch of a house on the 500 hundred block of Alexander Lane. The wounded black male was transported by EMS to Novant Rowan Regional Medical.

Two other unidentified persons, suffering gunshot wounds, ware driven to Novant Rowan Regional in a private vehicle and then were airlifted to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center to undergo surgery.

Novant Rowan Regional was briefly placed on lockdown due to crowds gathering there Saturday morning. The medical center is back open.

The Rowan Free Press later learned Police paraded several people out of the Grim Street house on Saturday morning with at least one individual being led away in handcuffs.
