♦ The Salisbury Police took a lick at cutting down on the city’s towering reputation for vice (street prostitution, narcotics, and gambling dens) Thursday when they entered a vacant house on the 500 block of East Lafayette Street on a trespassing call.  The officers called out, “Is anyone here?” They heard “I’m here” and walked into a room where they allegedly witnessed James Moore, 57, from Spring Lake, N.C., squirming in a chair with his pants down to his ankles and big grin. “Uh oh.”

Originally the police received a complaint from a neighbor who alleged that two female squatters were in the house and doing drugs.  When the police showed up, they spotted Juanita McKinney Ordonez AKA Juanita DeLarosea, 42, of the streets of Salisbury leaving the back door.  When questioned if anyone else was in the house, Ordonez allegedly said, “a black mans.”  Sure enough they found James Moore.  When they questioned him about his state of undress, he allegedly admitted he paid Ordonez for sex.

Ordonez was charged with breaking and entering-building (misdemeanor), engaging in prostitution (misdemeanor), and possessing drug paraphernalia (misdemeanor).

Under a $1,500 secured bond, she was detained in the Rowan County Detention Center before she was released on bond.

James Moore was arrested and charged with breaking and entering-building (misdemeanor) and prostitution (procure or solicit) (misdemeanor).

Placed under a $1,500 secured bond, he remains in the Rowan County Detention Center.

The RFP June 4th article on Juanita McKinney Ordonez allegedly turning loose some sex for a ride to McDonalds and an unspecified amount of money.

Ordonez was charged with engaging in prostitution and released on a promise to return for court.

♦ Looks like blades are back in vogue in warzone Shotzbury.  Allegedly hard pressed for cash, John Ashley Murdock, 37, of Salisbury was said to put the “mooch” on an old pal by requesting a loan for some fast food burgers.  When the obliging pal pulled out a wad of bills, he was allegedly confronted by a gleaming knifepoint.  With no resistance at first, Murdoch pocketed approximately 200 bucks and headed off toward the “Tattoo Inferno” Shotzbury’s leading tat emporium on N. Reuben Ijames Placed on Administrative Leave by Troubled Salisbury N.C. Police Department Due to Sexual Harassment Investigation

RFP Staff

♦ Reuben IJames, the Salisbury Police “community relations” officer who once manned the failed twice-a-week West End Police Substation, was placed on administrative leave on October 31st by the troubled Salisbury Police Department due to an alleged sexual harassment investigation.

Sources both in City Hall and the Police Department informed the Rowan Free Press last week that a former Salisbury Police officer made allegations. These allegations may involve others.  Former Salisbury Police Officers informed us that an alleged culture of sexual harassment prevails under Chief Rory Collin’s leadership.

Officer IJames showed up at the twice-a-week police substation in the crime-ridden West End community.  Starting in August of 2014 and closing down in July of this year, the substation was viewed as an abysmal failure by West End community leaders.  It was simply not community-driven and anyone showing up there would be viewed as a “snitch” by local gang members and drug dealers.

The call for the removal of Chief Rory Collins is deafening.  Public information requests, ignored by City Hall, have demanded a full accounting of the chief’s “use” of two city credit cards and the alleged personal use of his police vehicle.  Morale at the grossly understaffed and underpaid police department is at an all time low. Crime scene investigations are alleged to be mismanaged due to inexperience.  Police patrol throughout the city is missing-in-action as violence and break-ins are all too common occurrences throughout the city.

♦ Two teenagers Justin Bret Michael Johnson, 16, of China Grove and his alleged accomplice, a 15 year-old boy, became suspects in late October and were arrested by the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office on November 4th for the alleged armed robbery of the Xpress Mart in Enochville on July 21st.

The 15 year-old boy’s case is being sent to Juvenile Court.  Johnson is charged with robbery with firearms or other dangerous weapons (felony).

Under a $50,000 secured bond, Johnson remains in the Rowan County Detention Center.

The RFP’s July 22nd article on the Xpress Mart armed robbery in Enochville:

“Tuesday at around 2:45 a.m 2 men, wearing stocking masks over their faces, walked into the Xpress Mart at 2720 West C Street in Enochville and held up a male clerk with a pistol. The haul was an estimated $100 in Cash and a carton of Newport menthol cigarettes. Other items may have been taken from the rear of the convenience store. The two robbers disappeared on foot.

The clerk described the robbers as white males between 16 to 19 years-old wearing dark clothing and dark green shorts. One of the robbers sported shoulder-length blond hair.

The Sheriff’s Office brought a k-9 to the scene shortly after the robbery and attempted to track the bandits. The scent was soon lost on Timway Drive where a getaway vehicle may have spirited the pair away.”
