Letter-to-the-Editor: When Ebola Pounces on Salisbury, N.C.

Jonathon Morris, U.S. Army Ranger, (Ret.) & Rowan Sheep Baron

♦ I have no doubt the odds are astronomically high that sometime in the next two years Ebola will land in Salisbury, N.C.  Salisbury seems the perfect launch pad for a world-wide killer pandemic.  Salisbury has a target painted on its back–no better place in the U.S. for Ebola to go viral.  Salisbury has all the earmarks for an incurable melt-you-to-death virus.

I can see it now.  When Ebola strikes and Steve Mensing is the first to break the news, downtown Salisbury will say he made it all up and he’s just trying to destroy the city.  Just like he did when he was the first to report:

Salisbury suffers from 28% soaring poverty weeks ahead of the Post.

Salisbury’s schools scored badly on the State READY Report.  RFP posted the breakdown of each school in Salisbury and Rowan County.

The FBI crimes stats here were flat-out awful.

Fibrant was a complete debacle siphoning off the water and sewer funds.

The CEO of Fibrant was a contract worker running his own cable companies in Florida and Georgia.

There’s not enough cops to patrol and the fire fighters are understaffed.  Nobody was mowing the city properties.

There were many wrongfully terminated city workers.

He broke the news that Boone Newspapers Inc. was acquiring the Salisbury Post and they are going to downsize it.

It was Steve Mensing who discovered ground water contamination at 329 S. Main St.  He saw ponding activity in all that petroleum soaked sand at 329 S. Main and broke the news because the water table was contaminated. They called him a liar–he was just making it up.

He broke the silence here about gangs and gang graffiti.

He was the first to note the monumental corruption in Salisbury.

The Rowan Free Press ended the silence in Salisbury.  Mensing is a seer.  Without him raising the news bar here Salisbury would remain silent on anything that made the city look bad.  And brother there’s plenty of that.

Back to Ebola.  When it strikes you can bet on the local print paper will cover it up. Everybody in downtown Salisbury will ignore it–say it is not really happening. Ebola will wipe out all the alkies and druggies on Brick Street.  It will leave Main Street virtually untouched because nobody goes there.

Novant Rowan Medical Center will be a wall to wall mortuary.

Looting will break-out in downtown in all the junktique shops.  (Seriously who would loot downtown?)

The only people who will survive will be those who read the Rowan Free Press, eat at Chick-Fil-A, and bed down in Tarp City.
