♦ I was really disappointed in Judy Klusman’s “performance” at last week’s Livingstone College candidates forum. Klusman’s bad mouthing the West End Plaza is part of her game plan. She always hung her hat on that. She preached tearing down the West End Plaza on several occasions which would destroy the surrounding neighborhood businesses and do major harm to a Salisbury neighborhood. Of course that wouldn’t bother her any. But she has a history of being short-sighted and ill-informed about many subjects.
“Is it really worth putting in all of this money, and it’s going to be millions,” said Klusman at Livingstone . “We need to have a commercial inspector to come in that understands buildings that were built in that era. We need to have the concrete checked and the roof leaks like a sieve. Even if leaks are stopped and the roof is replaced, Klusman wondered aloud how much mold could be inside of the former mall.”
Klusmnan betrayed a complete lack of knowledge about construction. What does SHE know about concrete? Are the floors delaminating? And how much of the roof hasn’t already been replaced? What information does Judy have about mold that no one else seems to know about? Is she speaking from some position of expertise?
Judy, the West End Plaza already went through a building inspection and it passed. The West End Plaza constructed in the 1980’s–its in great shape. Is Judy? Perhaps she might require an examination and not the West End Plaza? Afterall in “The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinal” back in 2/10/2000 had an article entitled: “Lawmakers Urged to Pass mental Health Legislation: Bill Calls for Offering same Coverage as other Illnesses. An eye-opening excerpt about Klusman:
“The Senate Committee on Health, Utilities, Veterans and Military Affairs did not vote on the matter but heard more than two hours of testimony, most from people supporting the bill. It was an emotional afternoon. State Rep. Judy Klusman (R-Oshkosh) talked about her struggle with clinical depression, diagnosed 15 months ago. “There have been days, even weeks on end, when I could not get out of bed,” she said. “I simply couldn’t function. Treatment has made me healthier.”

Thank you for at least being candid about your mental health problems.
