♦ “Just the Thing”, an educational toy store on North Main Street in Salisbury, N.C., is closing after moving its inventory out of the Literary Bookpost at the start of the week.  After opening on North Main Street, the owner moved into the Literary Bookpost a year ago to share expenses, but that did not work out.

The owner Glenda Dyson stated on Facebook: “It’s with a sad heart I have to announce that “Just The Thing” is permanently closed.  I have loved the past eight years of being a part of downtown Salisbury and getting to know so many wonderful people.”

Most businesses struggle along Main Street with many closing.  “Just the Thing” remaining open for 8 years is a testament to its staying power in the “Retail Valley of Death”.

“Just the Thing” will conduct a going out of business sale on November 28-30th at the Heritage Room on 118 E. Council Street.

No confirmation yet on the future plans of “The Literary Bookpost” although neighbors are saying it may close its doors at years end.
