♦ Last Thursday after a Sheriff’s Deputy and a Rowan County DSS Case Worker inspected the home of Amy Teresa Locklear, 28, of 145 Pickler Road in Salisbury the previous day, Locklear was charged with 2 counts of misdemeanor child abuse.
An informant contacted the law enforcement on March the 4th describing Locklear as disoriented and that her two very young children (1 and 2 years-old) were living in filthy conditions.
Sources in the Sheriff’s Office report Locklear allowed a deputy to enter her premises and that the woman appeared confused and slurring her speech. Locklear admitted to using pain medication. A very young child stood nearby wearing a soiled diaper. The home smelled of human and animal feces. The carpeting was stained and dirty diapers were piled on a sofa and the floor. Spoiled food and dirty dishes lay about on the kitchen counter and elsewhere. Electrical wiring was exposed throughout the home.
After a Rowan County Social Services case worker arrived and inspected the premises, the deputy returned Thursday with warrant for Locklear’s arrest.
Placed under a $1000 secured bond, Locklear was briefly detained in the Rowan County Detention Center before being released.
