RFP Staff,
♦ Dominic Roshad Corradetti, 16, of the 1300 block of North Church Street in Salisbury, was arrested early Saturday morning along with two other teen “associates” for hurling rocks at an apartment building on the 300 block of East Council Street in Downtown Salisbury. A neighbor alerted Salisbury police that 3 male vandals were “rocking” the area. Not long after the dispatch went out, Corradetti and two teenagers were nabbed at Council and Long Streets. Corradetti was arrested, but the other two being juveniles were handed over to their parents.
Corredetti was arrested and charged with carrying a concealed firearm by a minor (misdemeanor) reported to be a .22 caliber handgun, possession of drug paraphernalia (misdemeanor) said to be a “green grinder”, simple possession of a drug (misdemeanor) reported to be a half ounce of marijuana, and a citation for vandalism.
Under a $2,500 secured bond, Corradetti was placed in the Rowan County Detention Center and has since been released.
Salisbury police are said to be investigating any connection between the East Council Street vandalism and a vandalism occurring in the same timeframe as windows being “rocked” at Abigail’s at 113 N.Main, a neighbor of the Sweet Meadow Café. Other businesses were also vandalized between Friday night and Saturday morning in Downtown Salisbury.
As warmer weather takes over, Downtown Salisbury is frequently targeted by packs of roving vandals often young adults and vagrants high on alcohol and narcotics. From Spring through Fall, Downtown Salisbury suffers from window “rocking”, graffiti, gang tags, and paint being sloshed on storefronts adding to the unsightliness of the area’s blight and numerous vacancies.
