♦ Kenneth Neely, 50, of the 400 block of Lincolnton Road in Salisbury received a gunshot wound to his stomach during a home invasion around 1:20 a.m. on Wednesday.
After receiving a dispatch, Salisbury Police arrived on the scene and found Neely painfully holding a upper abdominal wound. Neely told the officers he was sitting in his living room when 4 young black males, wearing ski masks, slammed through his front door. Neely attempted to battle with the invaders before he was shot and quickly overwhelmed by the younger men.
Neely was transported to Novant Rowan Regional Medical Center where he is receiving treatment. Although its said he received other injuries during the scuffle, the full extent and seriousness of his injuries has not been disclosed. Police investigators located a bullet hole in an interior wall and shell casings on the bedroom floor.
Police vehicles quickly poured into the area while investigators spoke with neighbors.
