♦ On Tuesday Rowan County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested registered sex offender Coy Daniel Sheets, 78, at his home on 840 Ernest Miller Road in Salisbury on a charge of indecent liberties with children (felony). The alleged victim was a child in the 1980’s and filed a complaint with the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office back in October. Under a secured $2,500 bond, Sheets was held in the Rowan County Detention Center until he was released on bond.

The complaint came from a male victim who alleged Sheets sexually assaulted him when he was a child. During the recent investigation detectives obtained enough evidence to present to the Rowan County District Attorney.
Sheets, according to NCDOJ records, was charged with multiple felony offenses for indecent liberties with 3 boys, 15 years old or younger back in 2003 and 2006. The boys were said to be lured to Sheets home to play pool and perform odd jobs. After gaining their trust, Sheets reportedly showed them pornographic films and materials before he asked them to join him in sexual activities.
In 2009, according to NCDOJ records, Sheets was convicted of sexual battery.
