♦ Over the long holiday weekend shots could be heard throughout Salisbury and on more than one occasion guns were pulled. On Monday an explosion, of unknown origin, rocked large portions of the city. It’s epicenter was said to be somewhere in the vicinity of Cemetery Street. Was it a meth lab? Another freelance bomb maker? Chemicals thoughtlessly stored in an attic? A gas main? Anybody’s guess.
No one was murdered this holiday weekend in Salisbury although a lot of miscellaneous bodies found were reported. More overdoses? Or one-sided choices made during an especially dark holiday depression?
Sources in the Salisbury Police Department report that the Pop Shoppe at 939 S. Jake Alexander Boulevard was the victim of an armed robbery reported to the police at 12:05 a.m. Friday. The robber came through the front door of the convenience store with a threatening note. Remaining silent during the robbery, the robber was able to take off through the front door with $1,676.23 in cash taken from the cash register drawer. Another $800 was left behind on the premises and later located by a K-9. No one was injured during the robbery.
The robber was described as a white male about 6 foot 2 inches tall with a blond handlebar mustache, blue eyes, wearing a white hoodie, a dark baseball cap, a dark sweater pulled up to his chin, and dungerees.
