♦ A Rowan-Salisbury School Bus headed toward West Rowan High hit an icy patch, slid down an embankment at Sherills Ford Road and Majolica Roads, and struck a Piedmont Natural Gas main. The school bus’s front end sustained damage. 3 students and bus driver were on the bus. No injuries reported.
Roads throughout Rowan County are slick with ice due to freezing rain and sleet. Emergency vehicles are on the scene. Piedmont Natural Gas is said to arrive shortly.
Road conditions all over Rowan County are dangerous as sleet and freezing rain continues to fall. Reports of power outages and fallen trees and limbs.
Be alert and aware if you have to drive in this mess.
